When you’re in college, you’re always on a budget. That’s just how it is and there’s really no way around it. I’m always looking for ways to save money because everything is so expensive. Luckily, I’m in my last year of college, but even after that I’ll still have loans to pay off.
The thing is, I love to cook and I love to eat healthy, but sometimes being on a budget just doesn’t really mix with those two concepts. But I refuse to be one of those students who lives on sandwiches and ramen. Over the years I’ve come up with ways to make simple healthy food interesting so I wouldn’t be stuck eating salads as my only option.
Last winter my mom sent me back to school with a Cuisinart Mini Prep food processor stuffed into my suitcase as a Christmas present since she knew I liked to get creative with my meals in my small space. I’ve been using it at least once a week ever since!
But like any appliance, it became worn down over time. The blades became dull from me stuffing so much food into that tiny little thing, the bowl was scratched from washing and banging it around, and honestly the whole thing just looked pretty sad. But I couldn’t give it up and I couldn’t afford to buy a new one at full price. I looked around online to see if I could buy a used one, but the prices weren’t that much better.
So I did what any student does when they need something fixed – I called my dad. Maybe there was some technical way of sharpening the blades that I didn’t know about.
He sent me links to some Cuisinart food processor replacement parts on Kitchen Works Inc. Apparently he bought gear for his grill there all the time.
I was pretty skeptical. I don’t really like buying things online because I always somehow manage to buy the wrong thing or shipping takes forever. But I was happily surprised to find that the Kitchen Works Inc website is so easy to navigate and they even have a handy guide that tells you exactly how to find which parts you need for the exact model of food processor that you own! In no time at all I was able to find the replacement blade for my mini and get it sent straight to my apartment. It arrived in less than a week and my food processor has been back in the game ever since!
I’ve been browsing the Kitchen Works Inc website (just looking for now, I swear) and have started adding some other stuff to my wishlist to grab in the future for my dream kitchen when I have some money saved up.
Some of my top picks included the french fry disc blade for my food processor. Who doesn’t want to make their own french fries? They also have some really cool, unique items like a donut cutter and a bunch of options for organization. Thanks for saving this broke college student some money, I’ll be back!
