“If I should choose a single reason why I became a webcam model, I would say independence. At that time, I was living with my boyfriend, who was cheating on me, as I later found out, and I relied on him financially. The feeling of helplessness from not being able to support myself was humiliating and it was destroying my dignity. At first, I wanted to get a job as a waiter, but when I found out about cam studios, there was no way I would change my mind again” – this is how Shirley starts her story.
Not too long ago, she became a webcam model and she shared her experience on a dedicated forum. “Money is just one of the reasons so many girls choose a webcam model career, but in my case, it was more about my personality than my financial needs. Of course, I also had financial motivation since I wanted to become independent as soon as possible. If you are like me, you will probably find it extremely easy to advance in online modeling, but there are a few things you should know before getting started”, she wrote.
“First of all, even if you don’t have to get naked, since we are talking about non-adult cam studios, you have to understand that, as a webcam model, you will be watched by hundreds or thousands of people you’ve never met before. Most of them will appreciate your voice, laugh, and personality, but some of them will also criticize you. Secondly, you have to understand that this activity doesn’t only involve relaxing in from of the camera all day”, Shirley says.
“If you want to be a successful webcam model, you have to become the best version of yourself, in terms of aspect, gestures, conversational skills, and others. Furthermore, you have to promote yourself on social media. For example, I spend almost as much time on social media as I do during my private sessions with members”, she concludes.
In the end, she adds that the reasons for becoming a webcam model are different from one young woman to another, but the road ahead will be the same, either way. “You never know where life takes you, as the majority of the plans we make for the future will undergo changes or will turn out completely different than we expected. Some webcam models thought about this decision in advance and weighed all its aspects, while others just went for it, in a momentary impulse”, Shirley adds.
Her story inspired hundreds of other young women on their path to becoming successful webcam models. “Before reading your story, I didn’t know exactly how to talk to my members, I was shy. But now, I ask them about themselves, what movies they like, what music they listen to, what do they think about the actual situation. I sometimes catch myself looking in the mirror in the morning and saying: ‘I am beautiful, I am smart, and I can have any man I want!’. And this is what brings me confidence”, wrote a cam girl who read Shirley’s story.
