Watching the great golfers under pressure during a tournament is awe-inspiring. It makes other golfers wonder –how did they learn to play so well? In addition to their amazing level of play, great golfers are confident in their game.

Motivation is an essential component of the psyche of successful golfers. One way for all golfers to keep their focus and remind themselves of their goals is in their selection of putter covers. Believe in Themselves

Exuding an air of confidence can be the difference between winning and losing. Presenting yourself as someone who is in control of the situation will add to your belief in yourself. Standing tall is one of the first steps in demonstrating your self-confidence. If you hit a shot into the water or a sand trap, that is not the time to slouch. Take a deep breath and renew your trust in your game and ability.

Champions are those who approach each situation in a positive manner. Winners can dismiss and push negative thoughts from their minds. Selecting a mantra to help you refocus when times are challenging can be an effective means to eliminate second-guessing yourself on a bad shot.

Know Themselves

Great golfers know who they are. A champion golfer understands their strengths; areas they need to improve; and parts of their game that are vulnerable. Great golfers will be sure to select clubs that enhance the most powerful parts of their game. In tight or close matches, winning golfers have the confidence to use their assets to push to a victory.

Great golfers also know that they are not perfect; they may not excel in all parts of the game. Accepting one’s shortcomings does not mean that you give up and tell yourself that you cannot putt, for example. Gaps in a golfer’s game should be addressed in practice. These are also parts of your game to seek assistance or coaching to become stronger.

Practice

Weaknesses and strengths should determine practice sessions. Practice sessions should be planned out ahead of time. Review your last match – what went well, what could have gone better, what did not go well?

Practice with purpose. Set goals for each part of your practice session. In addition to practicing your long or short game, use practice sessions to increase your motivation. Working through a challenging practice session will add to your confidence. Great golfers develop perseverance through practice, which is a developed skill.

Do not forget to include time in the gym as part of your practice time.

Respect the Game

Golf is a challenging sport, but it is also extremely rewarding. Even if you have a difficult round, stay positive. Great golfers respect the game of golf, other golfers, and the golf courses. This is shown through their preparation for a round of golf; their acknowledgement of others greatness; and not displaying anger or frustration when playing.

Visualize how you want your game to develop and work toward those goals. Having the right equipment, including motivating putter covers, that complements your ability is another aspect of great golfers.
