Still, it was not enough, so she started doing pop-ups and started learning about art galleries and Chinese contemporary art. Despite the lack of family support and the avenues that were in front of her, Pearl Lam forged ahead and opened her first Pearl Lam Gallery in Shanghai. The reason for this was as a visionary, she wanted to change the Chinese art landscape and how Chinese art was perceived by the West and China. The result was becoming a renowned Asian figure and authority on Asian contemporary art and design.
